Mōretsu Pirates is going in the far future where space travel has become the norm, Marika Kato is a high school girl living a ordinary life as a member of the space yacht club and a part-time job at a high-class retro café. Marika learns of past her father, Gonzaemon, who is revealed to have been a Space Pirate who performed legal acts of piracy under the letter of marque. In order for her father's ship, the Bentenmaru to continue legal operation, Kato, Gonzaemon's direct descendant, is chosen to become the ship's new captain, thus beginning her life as a Space Pirate.She becomes friends with members of ship Bentenmaru: Misa Grandwood (medic and in Hakuho Academy, she is the school's doctor), Kane McDougal (Helmsman and in Hakuho Academy, he serves as adviser of the Space Yacht Club and homeroom teacher in Kato's class), Hyakume (Sensor and Radar specialist), Coorie (electronic warfare specialist), Schnitzer (tactical officer and he is a cyborg), San-Daime (engineer) and Luca (navigator and psychic). Marika becomes friends with Chiaki Kurihara and her classmates from Space Yacht Club. Kato have many adventures as pirate.
